A Low-Carb Diet Can Lower Blood Pressure

Breaking news, a low-carb diet lowers blood pressure. Researchers studied 146 overweight people that were randomly assigned a diet plan.
The ones on a low carb diet out performed their counterpart on a low fat diet with the help of a diet drug.
The people on the low carb diet had a greater weight loss plus it reduced their blood pressure.
Weight loss was relatively close in both groups with in a percentage point or two. The blood pressure level was the key.
The low carb diet was in direct correlation of blood pressure lowering it on the systolic end 5.9 mm Hg. The dystolic number dropped about the same. The low fat diet with the diet drug aid only reduced the systolic pressure 1.5 mm Hg. The dystolic number dropped about the same. Insulin and glucose numbers improved in the low carb diet group as well. The diet aid was the only group that reduced LDL levels or bad cholesterol levels.Researchers studied this group over a 48 week period and noted if the participants would have stayed on their blood pressure medicines that the numbers could hae been larger. When their blood pressure went down the doctors took them off their medication.
